Carrie Bickmore has launched a charity – Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation – in memory of her late husband, Greg, who passed away almost five years ago after battling brain cancer.
The idea for the foundation came together after Carrie accepted her Gold Logie last year and made an impassioned speech about her late husband’s decade long battle.
“After the Logies speech I was kind of completely overwhelmed by it all, I didn’t know where to start or what to do,” she said. “It’s taken me six months to do all the work and I have a great board with me, including Todd Sampson and Natasha Stott Despoja.”
The first event planned for the foundation is a music festival – The Brainbeats 2015 – and with the help of Michael Gudinski, Carrie secured Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy, Dave Hughes and Peter Helliar.
Tickets are $395 and can be purchased at Carriesbeanies4braincancer.com
