Dami Im Announced as Australian Entrant in Eurovision

X Factor winner Dami Im to represent Australia at the 2016 competition.
While it was rumoured earlier in the week that Shannon Noll would be the possible Australian entrant into Eurovision this year, it seems as though his fans’ petition didn’t go to plan.
It has been announced that The X Factor winner Dami Im has scored the job of representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Her fans, who call themselves the Dami Army, waged a social media campaign to get her the gig this year.
Dami said she is proud to represent the multicultural face of Australia in Stockholm in May.
“I am grateful to live in a country where you don’t have to be a certain race to be called Australian and proud to represent that,” she said.
“My fans really wanted me to do this and they campaigned very hard which I think made an impact on the decision.”
