After starting the competition weighing in at 132kg, Daniel Jofre won TBL Families on Tuesday night, losing 51.6kg — 39.1 per cent of his starting weight.
Daniel, 24, was the youngest male in the competition and entered the series with his uncle Rob and older brothers Pablo and Tony. And he admits that he knows he wasn’t the one that people expected to win.
“I think the obvious choices were Tony due to his fitness and background and Pablo just because he had more weight to lose,” he said. “I was a dark horse because usually lighter contestants can’t pull off big numbers.”
The Jofre family shed a combined 208.6kg and won $100,000 as a family. Rob Jofre, who was eliminated just shy of the finale, was also named the “biggest losing” contestant, losing 59.3kg and gaining $10,000. He also got to marry his wife, Emma, in a surprise wedding.
Daniel leaves the competition weighing 80.4kg and with $100,000 in his pocket. He plans to use the money to invest in a property so he can move out of home.
