Ellen and Portia follow Elton John’s lead to boycott Dolce and Gabbana after negative IVF comments.

After Elton John announced that he was boycotting fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana when they made negative comments about IVF children, Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi have followed suit, saying they will never wear the label again either.
They were interviewed on Saturday at the 2015 GLAAD Media Awards and said they will never wear the brand again, after founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana made remarks to an Italian magazine calling children conceived via artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization “synthetic children.”
Ellen explained, “Why would I support someone who says something so nasty.”
Portia called the comments, “Very unfortunate, very unfortunate, unbelievable…”
Ellen had one word for them, “Ignorant.” “I would say the word ignorant, you know this isn’t just about gay couples, it’s a lot of people who are trying to have children. There are a lot of people who use a surrogate and their partner can’t have a baby for one reason or another. It’s unbelievable that somebody would be that ignorant, and why now?”
