Former MKR couple Annie and Jason welcome first child!
After two years of trying to conceive, former MKR contestants Annie and Jason Chesworth have welcomed their first child into the world – a little boy name Theo.
The couple were considering adoption and surrogacy after trying to fall pregnant for two years when they ended up falling naturally.
Theo – who was born on March 5 and weighed 2.9kg – was born with a cleft palate which Annie first noticed at her 20-week scan – realising that his facial features looked different in the ultrasound pictures once she got home and had a good look at them.
Doctors later confirmed that he did have a unilateral complete cleft, which affects one in every 600 children born in Australia. A cleft palate, or cleft lip, is a birth condition caused by the baby’s mouth parts not joining up during early foetal development.
Jason told Womans Day magazine, ‘The cleft palate we can deal with…He’s a beautiful, healthy baby boy.’
