Former Neighbours star Melissa Bell is entering the fourth week of a heartbreaking bedside vigil, praying for a miracle to bring her husband out of a coma and back to his family.

Her husband of 15 years, Gary, 57, had a massive heart attack last month while he was at work on the Gold Coast, and has been unconscious ever since.

“He actually died on November 12, and he was brought back,” Melissa explained to Woman’s Day, revealing Gary was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes after the attack.

Melissa, who is understandably devastated says that even a miracle will not restore Gary to full health, but even if he is in a vegetative state she wants to take him home to their three children – Jonathan, 15, Isabella, 11 and William, 7.

“I took wedding vows: for richer, for poorer; for better, for worse; in sickness and health, until death do us part, and I strongly hold onto those vows and I know he would do the same thing for me,” she said.
