Melissa Doyle Opens up About her ‘Hurtful’ Experience After Leaving Sunrise

Channel 7 personality Melissa Doyle has opened up about the hurtful comments she received after leaving Sunrise more than two years ago.
Despite telling fans that she was leaving to step into a new position, the rumour-mill went into overdrive with stories of hate and bullying – none of which were true.
Melissa, 45, says about the time, ‘I left Sunrise because I was ready to do something new and the network backed me.’
‘Despite everything that was written and everything that was said, I just had to hold my head high through all of it, let people speculate and say whatever they wanted to say. Yes, it was unpleasant, especially when things were said and written which were incorrect and hurtful, but I’ve also seen both sides of it and I can’t change people’s minds no matter what I say.’
Mel, as she is affectionately known to fans, now hosts the Friday and Saturday 6pm news bulletin and took over the reins of host of Sunday Night after Chris Bath announced her departure from Network 7 after 20 years.
