Mum Slammed Online For Sleep Over Rules Which Include No Tickling!

Mum Slammed Online For Sleep Over Rules Which Include No Tickling!

Hosting a playdate at your house can sometimes get tricky. The children who are invited over should be expected to abide by the rules of your family and that’s all there is to it really. Except what happens when you and your child are asked to sign a contract before a playdate or sleep over? Is that a good idea or does it sound a little extreme?

A mum asked just that from her son’s friends and has been slammed online for doing so. The list of rules was for a sleepover the mum was hosting and the demands were quickly labelled as ‘insane and over the top.’

One of the parents who received the list of demands shared it on Reddit where she asked people’s opinions on the set of rules.

“She makes her son’s friends sign a contract before they sleep over,” the Reddit user wrote.

The rules were shared to the woman’s Instagram account where she listed all the things that would be prohibited on the night including tickling and a ban on all excessive noise including TV and iPad! She said penalties would apply that could extend “until pickup time”.

“Touching/tickling of other people will result in immediate physical separation that could remain in place until pickup time,” the sleepover rules read.

Guests sleeping over needed to acknowledge and sign the rules sheet before being allowed to spend the night.

The post has gone viral over the past two days on Reddit, receiving more than 18,500 upvotes, and 1000 comments.

While the mother has every right to enforce whatever rules she wants in her own home, many thought her list of demands were excessive.

“That is completely insane,” one person commented. “I have kids games day at my house, and I talk to the parents and kids about house rules… but this is very odd.”

“Honestly if I had kids and one of their friends’ parents expected them to sign something like this I don’t think I’d be comfortable letting my kid go spend the night,” another person commented.

“This lady’s kids are going to have NO friends,” another joked.

What do you think of the rules? Are they fair enough or too much?

  1. Someone in her circle has been sexually abused or groomed. She is trying to put something into practice that protects everyone. Saddest statistic in the world, most children are sexually abused by someone they know.
