Outrage As Cafe Serves Up A Very Un Australian Piece Of Vegemite Toast!
A cafe at Sydney airport has found itself in the firing line after serving what can only be described as the most un-Australian breakfast ever!
Imagine ordering some vegemite on toast only to end up with something that looked like this.
The shocked customer posted a photo of the breakfast to Reddit, which showed two-and-a-half pieces of toast with the poorest application of vegemite we’ve ever seen!
Firstly, why is there half a piece of bread there and secondly, did the cafe run out of vegemite ? I mean seriously, that’s the only rational explanation we can think of!
“This looks like they walked past a jar of vegemite while holding the bread and then called it a day,” one person commented.
“I hate the stuff and even I know that isn’t quite enough,” another wrote.
One added: “I don’t know what’s more obscene, calling that mess “toast” or the appalling lack of vegemite on it.”
Let’s not forget that being at Sydney Airport probably meant the poor customer paid some ridiculous amount for it too! “I bet it cost $15 too,” one person noted.
There was a similar debacle over vegemite last year when a cafe in Newcastle got called out for being too hipster with their toast servings.
Yes, they were slightly more generous with the amount of vegemite they served up…BUT it wasn’t placed on the bread, it was smeared along side it like a bad skid mark! Look!

Instagram account Brown Cardigan got hold of the picture and shared it with their followers at the time. Needless to say, with over 2000 comments, people were not happy!
“This is not on. This upsets me,” one person commented. “Seriously??? Hahahaha by the time it gets to your table the toast will be cold … dry veg toast,” wrote another.
“The toast would be well cold by then, the butter wouldn’t melt. What a sh*tfight,” another person said.
Can we please just give our national treasure the respect it deserves? No more smearing vegemite on chopping boards please! Just give us the jar and we’ll do it ourselves! Thank you.
