My Kitchen Rules judge Pete Evans has revealed that the moment on the show when we watch the judges taste the food for the first time is actually staged!
The positive of the situation is that it’s actually the fairest way to ensure that the judges eat the food at its peak.
It turns out that even though Pete, Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge act like they’re tasting the food for the first time, they’ve actually already sampled it off camera.
“In the instant restaurants it’s hot and in the studio we get to taste while it’s hot,” Pete said.
“We usually eat it within a minute or two of it being plated, but because of the logistics, we end up eating another dish later on that’s been sitting there a little bit longer.”
They base their comments on their initial tasting, which means the teams aren’t marked down for the dishes not being hot enough.
