Russell Gilbert Goes Missing After Not Attending his Fiance’s Funeral
Funnyman Russell Gilbert’s fiance of 19 years, Rochelle Nolan, sadly ended her own life on R U OK earlier this month.
Russell was a no show at her funeral, which he called “the hardest day of my life”. His whereabouts during the funeral were not disclosed, but he provided “A Short Note” for the Order of Services booklet.
“Thank you everyone for your words of comfort and support,” it read. “As you could all imagine, today is the hardest day of my life! It is with the greatest sadness that I do not have the strength to be here with you all today. I’m just not ready to say goodbye.”
And now, two days after Rochelle’s funeral, celebrities including Nova’s Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and David Campbell leapt onto social media to appeal to the general public for help in tracking Russell down after friends couldn’t locate him, prompting a manhunt on social media and Melbourne police to be notified.
Within an hour of looking for information concerning his whereabouts, Fitzy tweeted that Russell had been found.
“Russell Gilbert has been found. Thanks to everyone for your help. He is a great man,” he posted at 8.20pm Thursday.
Melbourne Police Media confirmed they had conducted a search for a missing 55-year-old man who was later found “safe and well”.
