When American pop star Selena Gomez cancelled her Australian tour in 2013, fans were left shocked and angry when they didn’t get a proper explanation.
She has now shocked fans one again by revealing the real reason for the cancellation – she was undergoing chemotherapy at the time.
Selena, 23, told Billboard magazine that she had a series of chemotherapy treatments to alleviate the symptoms of lupus.
“That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” she said, explaining why she never made it to Australia or Asia during her 2013 tour.
At the time, it was reported that Selena was in rehab, following her breakup with fellow pop star Justin Bieber.
“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a**holes’,” she said “I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
