Teen Sentenced to Five Years Jail After Killing Pregnant Mother in Car Crash
The teenager who killed pregnant mother Sarah Paino, after speeding and crashing his stolen car into the vehicle Sarah was driving, has been sentenced to five year behind bars.
The 16-year-old has been given an adult sentence for manslaughter after colliding his vehicle into Sarah Paino’s car.
The teen was found speeding over 100km/hour. The Justice, Helen Wood, described the teen’s driving as ‘chillingly dangerous’.
Ms Paino, 24, was 32 weeks pregnant when she was killed. Her baby was able to be delivered at the Royal Hobart Hospital after the collision. Miraculously, Ms Paino’s toddler son was not hurt in the crash.
Throughout the hearing the teen’s family cried and yelled when sentence was called out.
The teenager will be eligible for parole in two and a half years.
