The Bachelorette Australia – What Really Happened When Georgia Dumped Courtney
In the latest episode of The Bachelorette Australia, Georgia Love finally came to her senses and dumped the non-committal Courtney Dober. She had clearly had enough of his dithering and kicked his arse to the kerb before there could even be a rose ceremony.
But was it all as it appeared?
Courtney says no. He has revealed today that there was some creative editing involved and that he did not just stand up emotionlessly and walk out without a word, leaving Georgia in tears.
Apparently a lot more happened that we didn’t see, although it doesn’t change the fact that he was probably on the reality show for the wrong reasons.
“We definitely spoke after that,” Courtney told news.com.au, clarifying he didn’t simply walk out of the mansion without a word.
“I wished her all the best and said she deserved all the happiness in the world and I hope she finds it in one of the boys that are left. We definitely had a chat and I definitely had that chat in the limo (the post-elimination monologue) but unfortunately there’s only so much time and it got cut.”
Georgia’s frustrations with Courtney’s non-committal attitude began building up in recent weeks and her concerns finally came to a head last night when she demanded to know his true feelings in an intense confrontation.
“I want to be standing there at the end, madly head over heels in love with someone and knowing they feel the same way about me,” she told him. “But I need that commitment back from that other person and I don’t think you can give me that, can you?”
He told her he doesn’t fall in love at first sight and needed more time to get to know her.
“I feel like we would work but in this situation for me to give you that clarity right now at this stage we’re at … I cannot give you that,” he said. “Those few moments we have together, maybe that’s enough for some people …”
“It’s not enough for me,” Georgia said, cutting him off. This is where it gets all Bridget Jonesy.
“If you’re asking me do I think I can tell you that I love you at the end of this, I don’t know,” he said. “Am I in love with you right now? No. Are you in love with me right now? I don’t think so. And I’ve said to you, if I’m there at the end then I’m a hundred per cent in. Whether that’s enough to carry us any further, then who knows.”
But it’s not good enough for Georgia. She was clearly fed up at this point.
“As much as I wish things were different, they’re not,” she informed him. “And as much as you might wish things were different and that either of us might think that if this was outside of here it would be different and it could work … we’re not. That’s the fact of that matter. We can wish for anything and everything but this is how we’ve met and this is what we’re in.”
“I do still have really strong feelings for you and I do still feel like we’ve got this amazing connection and have a great time together,” she continued, holding back tears. “But I feel all I’ve got from you recently is doubts and hesitations. I just can’t keep doing it to myself.
“It’s at the point of trying to decide who I’ll stand there with and start my forever (with). Not my maybe-potentially-forever.”
And with that, he silently got up and left.
So now there are only three men left in the chase for Georgia’s heart. Lee, Matty J and Jake.
Who do you think will be standing with Georgia at the finale?
