MasterChef Australia – Elimination Recap – Miles goes home to a new fiancée
It was a result baring mixed emotions for Miles Pritchett on last night’s MasterChef Australia episode. On one hand, he was just eliminated from one of Australia’s most-watched cooking competitions. But on the other hand, he gets to go home to his new fiancée whom he met during a short break in filming late last year.

The 46-year-old park ranger delivered the least favoured dish in the show’s Lucky Dip Challenge. As it was explained on the show, George and Matt held out two lucky dip bags – one containing styles of cuisine, the other containing main ingredients. The elimination contestants were asked to select a card from each of the bags to determine which meal they were to present for judging.

The cards were dealt as follows:
Miles – Japanese and Fish
Harry – Indian and Shellfish
Zoe – American and Fruit
Mimi – Thai and Lamb
Elena – Spain and Pork
Matt – Lebanese and Beef
Miles appeared confident with his selections as he has lived in Japan, has children who are half Japanese and has a son who works in a Japanese restaurant. But his dish failed to live up to everyone’s expectations.
He had planned to dish up salmon three ways- cured, pickled and as sashimi. Unfortunately though, he lost his nerve while filleting his fish and stuffed it up a bit. As he ran out of time he was forced to drop the sashimi element from his dish.

In the end, Harry served up Keralan Prawn Curry, Matt presented Braised Beef Shin with Smoked Eggplant Yoghurt, and Elena delivered Spanish Pork and Rice. Mimi’s Thai Lamb Salad with Thai Chilli Sauce and Zoe’s Cold Pumpkin Tart with Maple and Bacon Ice Cream didn’t wow the judges but it was Miles’ salmon dish that was the least impressive of the evening’s fare, leaving the judges with no option but to send him home to his new love.

Miles now has dreams of opening a cafe called “The Mile Pie Club” when he returns to his hometown of Clermont in Queensland. He and Tania are to be married at the end of the year. All the best Miles!
Until next week!
