It’s really easy, with three small children, housework and various other responsibilities to deal with on a daily basis, to get bogged down with all the serious stuff.
I’m no stranger to feeling overwhelmed or anxious.
But I’ve learnt a few strategies to help me cope when I can feeling it coming on…and suprise suprise, having a good laugh is right up there at the top.
It’s important not to take ourselves too seriously, and make time to step out of the all-consuming role of being a mother sometimes, even if it’s just for a few minutes…even when particularly when you are having the kind of day that sees the exhaust dislodge itself from its rightful place beneath your car (it is hanging precariously!), your washing machine dies and your laptop refuses to ‘respond’ to anything you do! (All that before midday too!)
I’ll let you in on a little secret.
I did consider throwing myself onto the kitchen tiles in a broken heap of snot and tears. But quickly decided to try option B first.
I headed straight for the radio and I whacked that sucker up.
There is always that song that gets you playing air-guitar right?
And then there’s the one that draws you towards the hairbrush…and before you know it your standing in front of the mirror, surrounded by your adoring fans in a packed stadium, miming your bootie off!
Your nodding and smiling, I know you are! (I’m not the only one who does this…am I?)
Adele’s ‘Someone like you’ does it to me everytime.
And don’t you feel envigorated and alive (and just a little crazy) aferwards?
I do…and I love it!
And I wanna share that wonderful, kooky, crazy, fun feeling of release with you…and invite you to take up your hairbrush, let down your hair, and mime like the world wide web isn’t pointing and laughing at you.
You don’t have to be a blogger to join in either.
Just share your moment of musically inspired release and abandon on my facebook page.
P.s. TOP TIP: Probably best not to watch it back before you post it! Just leave you self-checking mechanisms at the door and say YES to some crazy goofy fun!
Are you game to take up the Prime Mime Time (PMT) Challenge?
Its cheaper than therapy…and way more fun!
