Tis the season to be jolly!

But those of us with family responsibilities, financial concerns and/or busy social calendars will know, that for many parents, tis also the season to be stressed!

Whilst we run from the school concert, to pick someone up from soccer practice, before doing the dreaded grocery shop it can be hard to take the time to stop and take stock of things.

Mums Lounge recently undertook a survey, and two points really stood out to us.

The Challenge

During the month of December we are inviting everybody to join in an Attitude of Gratitude photo challenge.

All you have to do to play along is take a moment each day to reflect on something that you feel grateful for and take a photograph of it. They needn’t be big things; a hot cup of coffee, reaching the bottom of the never-ending laundry basket, and a cranky three year old finally taking a much-needed nap are just a few examples of things I have felt grateful for this week!

So in between running around like a headless chook, and spending money and time on gifts to make your loved ones happy this December, take a moment for yourself to reflect what makes you happy.

The Importance of Gratitude

Scientists have found that adopting an attitude of gratitude is a powerful contributor to a happy life. Making time daily to reflect on the good things in our lives, shifts our focus away from the things that our lives lack, to the abundance that is present.

‘We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.’

Jolene

Jolene enjoys writing, sharing and connecting with other like-minded women online – it also gives her the perfect excuse to ignore Mount-Washmore until it threatens to bury her family in an avalanche of Skylander T-shirts and Frozen Pyjama pants. (No one ever knows where the matching top is!) Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on. Dislikes: Writing pretentious crap about herself in online bio’s and refereeing arguments amongst her offspring.
