Aeroplane Passenger Stands for 6 Hours so His Wife Could Sleep Across His Seat
A viral photo of an older gentleman standing beside his sleeping wife on an aeroplane has started a raging internet debate.
The contentious photo recently surfaced on Twitter showing a man who reportedly stood for six hours on a plane ride. He is shown standing over someone who appears to be his wife, who is using both seats to lay down and sleep.
This guy stood up the whole 6 hours so his wife could sleep. Now THAT is love. pic.twitter.com/Vk9clS9cCj

As lovely and romantic as this kindness seems, some users on Twitter disagreed. Instead of seeing this as the ultimate romantic move, some thought the woman should have just sat normally in her chair.
She couldn’t just lie across HIM?! I won’t judge their marriage. My hubs is the kind of man who would do this for me, but I am not the kind of wife to ask this of him! pic.twitter.com/fswsyKi52e

Others agreed. One woman commented: “I can’t let my man stand for even 10 minutes. I’d definitely be sleeping on his lap which would even be more comfortable. Or rest properly on the chair. Why would you let your man stand for 6 hours?”
“If that is love then I’d rather be lonely,” replied another.
“That not love. That’s selfishness on the woman’s part. Can’t she just place her head on his shoulders and sleep? Love doesn’t work like that,” added a third.
While the post didn’t include any further details on how long the overall flight was or where they were headed to, Twitter debated the sweet gesture fully. The original post garnered over 3,000 retweets and over 15,000 reactions.
What do you think? Would you stand for six hours so your partner could sleep? Or would you suggest a less selfless option instead?
