Couple Married for 76 Years, Celebrate their 100th Birthdays
Margaret and Allan Little have much to celebrate this Christmas. The couple recently celebrated their 100th Birthdays and have been married for 76 years.
When today.com asked the couple what the secret was to lasting love, Margaret said, “Live a decent life, behave yourself and be thankful.”
Allan celebrated his birthday on the 12th November and the staff at The Meadows Lakeshore Senior Community in Nashville threw a surprise party which included old friends as guests, and much elation with speeches, flowers and a food buffet.
Margaret described the celebration “There were more flowers at the party than I’d ever seen in my life!”
Margaret celebrated her 100th Birthday on the 6th August , where Allan spoiled her with two dozen red roses and a new suit to wear to church.
Margaret gave her husband a monogrammed baby blue sweater for his Birthday.
The couple started dating when they were in their junior year of high school, but they had met earlier at Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ when they were younger.
When Margaret threw a party, Allan asked if he could come as the date for her cousin who was attending the party, but little did they realise they would hit it off and become a couple.
Allan told today.com, “I tried my best to take care of Margaret and myself. And to give Margaret the honor and respect she deserved.”
They both can’t believe they’ve turned 100, and Allan admits he doesn’t feel any different, but they do feel very honored and blessed to have reached these milestones.
“I feel kind of old, but I’m also grateful because not many people get the opportunity to live this long,” Margaret said.
Allan added, “I never really thought about living this long, but now that I’m 100 years old, I guess that’s kind of special.”
Their achievements have been recognized with an official proclamation from a state representative while also receiving a letter from Nashville Mayor, Megan Barry and the White House.
