Mum Trolled For Giving Her Toddler Cups of Tea to Drink
A mum recently shared that her toddler loved having the occasional cup of tea and the internet was not having it. Some comments went as far as calling it child abuse. What do you think?
Leannee, who loves to share videos of her son on TikTok recently shared one which had the trolls outraged. In the video, it shows her son enjoying a little bit of tea in his cup. You can hear the mum in the video asking, “what are you drinking,” and he responds that he was drinking a little bit of tea.
So darn cute!
Mum Leanne, who also happens to be British sees nothing wrong with that. And in fact, the cup didn’t look to have that much in it anyway. Was it really that bad that the toddler took a few sips?
Well the commenters seemed to think so. In fact many of the comments were along the lines of:
”That’s just irresponsible.”
”Wow, abusing your toddler!”
”You know tea has caffeine and that’s a drug.”
In fact many said he was “far too young” to be drinking tea and this is how young children get addicted to caffeine. Leanne decided to stand up for herself and explained that her son had seen her with cups of tea so many times that he just wanted a taste for himself.
In fact one woman even said she was drinking coffee at the age of four! She pointed out that in the 80’s parenting was a whole other ballgame. She’s not wrong!
Medical advice does state however that any drinks containing caffeine should be avoided completely by children. “Caffeine, a stimulant, isn’t recommended in any amount for children under age 12. It may cause anything from trouble sleeping and nervousness to issues with increased urine output and decreased sodium/potassium levels.”
What do you think? Is it ok for kids to have little sips of tea or coffee occasionally?
