A New Mum Was Told To Cover Up Her Stomach At The Pool!
A new mum was body shamed by another woman at the pools for wearing a bikini.
Lexi Sinclair from Kansas, had taken her 4 month old son for a swim at her local pools where she was approached by another woman who initially came to speak to her about her baby. However the conversation soon took a nasty turn when Lexi was body shamed by the other woman.
“She proceeded to tell me that the men at the pool would feel more comfortable if I was in a one-piece swim suit because a bikini isn’t appropriate for a mother, especially one who’s ‘still recovering’,” Lexi wrote on her Facebook page.
The mum posted the photo below onto her Facebook page in defiance of all the haters who think she should cover up!
Lexi responded to the woman at the pool by smiling and kissing her son and telling her she was “proud” of her body.
“In just one year I’ve gained 50 pounds (22.7kg), and lost 37 (16.8kg). I’ve grown a human and given birth to a beautiful miracle. My body provided food for my child,” she wrote.
“So, no, my body might not be the best sight for other men to see. My stretch marks and tummy pudge might not be sexy.
“But they’re proof that I’ve done something amazing.
“To be honest, I don’t give a tiny rats a– what other men, or a prissy twit like you think. Have a nice day though.”
Since posting her photo and rant on social media it has received tens of thousands of comments and shares worldwide.
It seem to have really struck a chord with women in particular and “so many other people who can relate to how it feels to be body shamed”. How disappointing that a comment like this came from another woman. Where’s the sisterhood and support we should be providing to each other- especially to new mums who are navigating through so many physical and emotional challenges as it is!
