What Do Midwives Think of Your Pubic Hair When You Give Birth?

What Do Midwives Think of Your Pubic Hair When You Give Birth?

What our pubic hair looks like is something we all worry about before giving birth, isn’t it?

We know that our bits are going to be on display for a select audience of loved ones and hospital staff while we have our baby and we want to look nice and neat down there, but, well, there is one rather large problem.

We can’t see anything but belly when we look down!

So in the interests of looking our best on the big day, we ask ourselves, should we go for a wax? Should we ask our partner to give us a little trim? Or should we just leave it be and rock a full bush?

Well, a midwife has shared a viral post that allays all those fears that we are being judged by what our pubes look like, and I’ve got to say, it’s a bit of a relief.

Lozza2442 took to the Reddit board Baby Bumps to reassure mums everywhere that midwives just do not care what you do with your pubic hair.

Oh, thank goodness! This is one of those things that most of us are secretly paranoid about, and it’s good to know that no one actually cares but ourselves!

Redditors in the maternity biz quickly agreed with Lozza, adding their own take on her thoughts.

“As an ob/gyn – 100% agreed. And it’s not only pubic hair… hemorrhoids, interesting tattoos and piercings in your nether areas… anyone who’s been delivering babies for a few years has seen it all. Aside from safety and some basic hygiene, it really doesn’t bother us,” wrote Redditor cherryliquer.

“I’ll add as a nurse who sees more than my fair share of vaginas on a regular basis, it doesn’t even register to me if you are full bush or shaved, shaved legs or not, etc. The only thing that turns my stomach is obviously unwashed genitals (white junk built up, etc). Other than that IDGAF. I put in catheters, clean people after they urinate or poop, wash people when they are too sick to do it themselves, sit in the bathroom with patients as they have seemingly unending diarrhea, etc… Nothing phases you after a while” added randomuser659.

Mums also shared their thoughts on their own experiences.

“First kid I shaved. Tore 2nd degree. Nothing like shave rash/itch with those stitches. It was awful. Jungle with my second. Much better experience” wrote cliner90.

Hyperventilate added her thoughts: “I have no shame after having a baby. I had a normal vaginal birth but the amount of hands I’ve had up my cooter is astounding. I had my doctor ask if a few students could watch and I was like SURE, BRING EM IN.”

“I’m pretty sure my bush might trap the baby coming out at this point lol. I keep asking hubs to help but he “wants to see how long it’ll get”, added apostasism.

So there you have it, ladies! Do what you want with your pubes when you’re ready to give birth because nobody cares. This is very good news for us all on this blessed day.
