Help Keep Your Home Pest-Free This Summer: Mortein Naturgard Auto Protect Review

My family love the warm weather. To us, the warm months mean sitting in the sandpit with icy-poles, sprinklers on the trampoline and noisy hours spent splashing in and out of paddling pools…and a never ending stream of towels to wash.
Unfortunately, regardless of how many times I complain and nag remind my children, the warm weather also inevitably also means children traipsing in and out of the backdoor all day long. And do you think any of the said children think to close the door behind them?
No! Of course not!
So the flip-side to the outdoor fun is often flies and mosquitoes getting into the house…and I loathe it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m cool with a huntsman hanging in my bathroom, but flies totally gross me out. Also, the Woo and I are like mozzie magnets, and the bites on both of us tend to swell. So, not only do they itch like crazy, they look pretty unsightly too – and big red welts are the last thing you want when you are rocking your new shorts, right?
So, when I was approached with the opportunity to trial and review the Mortein Naturgard Auto protect Indoor Eucalyptus I literally jumped at the chance. I can’t be the only parent that hates it when bugs and insects get into the house, and if it works as well as they says, I’m only too happy to share that with anyone who cares to listen!
Mortein Naturgard Auto protect Indoor Eucalyptus comes with 1 x diffuser, 1 x refill, and 2 x AA batteries. For me, being able to set and forget a device that will automatically release the protection into my home is worth it’s weight in gold. Life with a family is invariably busy, so having one less thing to have to think about is always welcome!
More important than ease of use though, of course, is the matter of protection from annoying pests. One of the reasons that I do try (albeit in vain) to keep doors and fly screens closed during Spring/Summer, is that I don’t like having to use lots of different products to get rid of critters that make their way inside. Mortein Naturgard Auto protect Indoor Eucalyptus contains natural Eucalyptus extract (inspired by the Blue Mountains National Park). I personally love the clean, crisp smell of Eucalyptus, but if you don’t there is also an odourless product available.
Visit the Mortein website for more information on their range of products.
Depending on what sorts of insects you are targeting, you can choose to set the unit between 3 levels of spray frequency – or turn it off altogether. The high setting releases product every 13 minutes, the medium setting every 15 minutes and the low setting every 17 minutes.
Verdict:
Pros
I’ve been using Mortein Naturgard Auto protect Indoor Eucalyptus in my home for the past week and I can already see a huge improvement. Not once have I woken up with fresh mozzies bites (which has to be a new record!) and neither has my son (or anyone else for that matter!)
What’s more, there are no disgusting flies buzzing around in my kitchen, trying to land on our food. (Urgh! Just the thought of them makes my skin crawl!)
Needless to say, I will be replacing the diffuser can when it runs out (approximately 30 days), and will continue to use it throughout the Summer months. (Another handy point I should mention is that a little green light shows on the unit, when this turns red it is indicating that it is time for a refill.)
Cons
The Eucalyptus scent of the spray is fairly subtle. I do love Eucalyptus, so I would probably prefer it to be a tad stronger – but I’m sure for many people this would be a plus rather than a negative. But overall, I don’t have anything negative to say about the Mortein Naturgard Auto protect Indoor Eucalyptus product, and will continue to use it throughout the warmer months.
If you are experiencing difficulties with any of the above flying or crawling insects, I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
