Lifestyle Clothes Lines’ FoxyDry Mini Ceiling Clothes Line Review

When my husband and I decided to start a family, one of the (many) things I was not prepared for, was how much laundry I was signing up for. Of course, I soon discovered that even a small baby was capable of generated a fair amount of washing all by itself. Fast forward to today with three teenagers in the house, there is no end to the school uniforms, work uniforms, sports kits and everyday clothing that finds its way into my laundry hampers. Heck, sometimes my kids’ friends leave their clothes here and I end up washing them too! Just as soon as I get to the bottom of a wash basket, another load not so magically appears!

Why I Prefer to Use a Clothes Line V Tumble Dryer

So, when I was presented with an opportunity to review the FoxyDry Mini Ceiling Clothes Rack from Lifestyle Clothes Lines I grabbed it with both hands. Whilst I do own a tumble dryer, I only use it when there is no other option, which fortunately, being in Queensland, isn’t very often. With the cost of living so high, it makes sense for my family to limit the amount of electricity we use when possible. There’s also the fact that using the sun is as better for the environment. Look, I have friends that couldn’t be without their dryers and run them all the time regardless of the weather – there’s no judgment here. You do whatever you need to do to get everything done. But truth be told, on a busy day working from home, ten minutes outside in the sunshine hanging washing with a podcast on, makes for a nice little brain break! It may not be sipping margaritas beside a pool, but you’ve got to take what you can get!

Rather than getting my husband to put the ceiling airer inside though, I got him to install it under our carport, so that I’d have a place to hang my washing out of direct sunlight (for delicate things) and out of the rain in the event of a shower. We have two very lovable, but furry rescue cattle dogs so I prefer not to use a portable airer in the house when it’s raining, because the clean clothes end up with pet hair on them. So, an undercover clothes rack that is mounted to my carport roof is perfect and allows laundry to be airdried and protected from the rain.

The Environmental Advantages of Using a Ceiling Airer in Your Home

Installing a ceiling airer inside your home allows you to utilise the warm air that naturally occurs inside most homes, allowing you to dry a load of washing in 2-4 hours.

In fact, using a ceiling airer as a direct replacement for your normal tumble dryer can reduce your carbon footprint by 1.5 tonnes a year, and saves you enough in electricity costs to pay for itself in around 6 months!

What I Love About the FoxyDry Mini Ceiling Clothes Airer

First and foremost, the FoxyDry Mini was easy to assemble and install. Admittedly, I just stood around and watched while my husband did it, but I could tell because there was a distinct lack of profanities, and it didn’t have to come apart multiple times to be restarted. Some of you will know exactly what I’m talking about! Haha! The instructions were clear and easy to follow…hallelujah!

The rack itself is compact but robust, making it perfect for anywhere, including apartments, townhouses, or homes with limited laundry space, and can be installed either indoors or outside. The user-friendly scissor-arm mechanisms allows you to effortlessly raise or lower to the exact height you want, making it easy to hang items. Then you simply use the pully to raise it back up again to take advantage of the warmer air!

The rack can be lowered up to 1.8metres from the ceiling, so it’s even suitable for very high ceilings. It’s also made from anodised aluminium and steel (renowned for their corrosion resistance) making it a durable choice in any situation.

Boasting 8 drying rods, the FoxyDry Mini can hold up to 10kg of wet laundry. It also comes in two length options. I have the 1.2metre version, but there is also a 1.5 metre version too.

The sleek Italian design is modern and compact and allows you to make even small spaces more functional. I love that it allows you to keep floor spaces clear and keeps your clean laundry up out of the way of small children and pets by utilising ceiling space instead.
