Safe ‘n’ Sound Compaq AHR

Britax’s popular Compaq convertible seat has been updated to feature a new slimmer design plus added safety features, making it a great choice for smaller cars, and families needing to accommodate three child safety seats across the back seat of their vehicle.

The Compaq AHR converts from rear facing to forward facing making it suitable from birth to approximately four years. The seat also features nine height positions to easily accommodate your child as he/she grows.

One of the main differences (besides the slimmer design) of the new Compaq is that it is now equipped with Britax’s exclusive AHR active head restraint and hassle free harness. This is a feature that I have raved about in the past in other reviews.

I…can’t rate the easy adjustment of the head rest and shoulder harness height highly enough. I know from past experience that having to uninstall a car seat and rethread the harness every time your child has a growth spurt (and let’s face it, they come thick and fast in the early month and years) can be a real drag. You also run the risk of re-installing the seat incorrectly, so being able to make these adjustments just with the pull of the red hook at the top of the head rest is really worth it’s weight in gold from both a safety and convenience perspective. It literally takes seconds!

I’m also a huge fan of the EZ buckle system, which is a fancy name for the padded material behind the mechanism that you click the seat belts into. As simple as it may seem, it serves the very practical purposes of holding your buckle in a forward position. No more digging around under babies bottom to look for it.

The harness holders serve a similar purpose, making it easier to access the seatbelt straps once your child is in the seat. These harness holders are particularly useful in the summer months, as it prevents the hot metal buckles touching your child’s skin as they get into the seat.

Britax Compaq AHR installation easy

Installation

A major bonus of this seat is that it is super easy to install, making it a breeze for parents, but also, more importantly reduces the risk of incorrect installation. The fact that the instructions are clearly displayed on the seat itself, and easy to follow allows this seat to be uninstalled and reinstalled by different family members as the need arises (without the hunt for the instruction manual).
