American Mum Offends Aussies With Her Version of Fairy Bread
There are some foods that just shouldn’t be messed with, fairy bread being one of them. It’s always ALWAYS made with white bread, butter and 100’s and 1000’s. So imagine the shock when one mum dared to stray from the original recipe!
Mum of 10, Alicia Dougherty shared a TikTok video of herself preparing an after-school charcuterie board for her family which included a variety of treats. Some of them were salami, cheese, crackers, grapes, apples cookies, celery sticks and fairy bread.
All was okay until the mum decided to use Cinnamon Toast Crunch spread instead of butter to make the fairy bread. Understandably, Aussie mums were shook!
The video, which has been viewed more than 500,000 times quickly drew comments from mainly Aussie mums saying it was the most “un-Australian” fairy bread they’d ever seen.
“As an Australian, the fairy bread makes me so mad. You’re supposed to use butter,” one wrote.
Another added: “You’ve offended Australia. That is not fairy bread. PLAIN BUTTER, BREAD AND SPRINKLES ONLY!”
One pointed out: “As an Aussie I’m am genuinely p***ed off at how you made the fairy bread. You’re meant to add butter, pour sprinkles on a plate and put bread down.”
Another said: “As an Aussie, I’m hurt by this fairy bread. What is cinnamon spread? Fairy bread is butter and 100s and 1000s.”
One added: “Fairy bread is made with butter and it is an Aussie food, not American – that’s why you don’t know how to make it.”
“It physically hurts me to see her make fairy bread like that,” wrote another.
While one said: “POV: All Australians right watching this (skull emoji).”
What do you think? Is this version sacrilegious or strangely good?
