Man Shares Tear Jerking Find On Google Maps and You’ll Definitively Need Tissues To Watch
Google Street View is a fantastic feature of Google Maps especially when you’re able to spot late loved ones in the images. One man has sent twitter into tears after scrolling back through time on his grandad’s street and discovering a lovely surprise!
For those unaware, Street View is a Google feature that provides interactive images from positions along many streets in the world. If your street is featured it will come up as a blue line on Google Maps.
Google cars come around often and update these images but you’re also able to scroll back and see your street during previous years. And it was while doing this exact thing that Mike Doyle, from Liverpool, came across a photo of his grandad alongside his late nan.
Sharing the photo on Twitter, Mike said: “My Nan passed away in 2015, so it’s great to see Google Maps have recently added a feature to see old street views, like this one of her going out with my Grandad in 2012. My Grandad still lives on to this day, at 90 and he’ll be made up when I show him this.”
Social media users were so touched by this story that they wrote in to let Mike know.
One said: “Love this Mike” with a tearful emoji, while another added: “Amazing”.
“This is the best use of Google maps I’ve seen,” said one Twitter user.
“That is so cute xx.”
While one person tried it out for themselves, saying: “Thank you for posting this, I’ve just put my old address into it and there’s my dad up a ladder outside the house, I lost him almost 8 years ago and it’s absolutely made my day!”
It’s totally made our day too! How good!
