Single Women Confirm Red Nails Help Them Get More Dates

There’s a theory floating around TikTok that women pull more dates when wearing red nail polish. Could this be true? And if so, why?!

Single women have been coming out in droves recently singing the praises of red nail polish. According to single women like Melisse Martineau, from the US, there’s a “red nail theory” that declares “guys are attracted to red nails”.

“The red nail theory is so real,” Martineau said in her TikTok video. “I’ve never been asked out on so many dates or complimented as much as I have in the past two to three weeks for these nails. Like I’m talking I’ve been asked out maybe five or six dates which is not normal. I don’t know what it is, but it’s real.”

Melissa’s video has since gone viral with many women sharing her sentiment stating the ‘theory works.’

“Every time I have red nails. I pull dates so much harder,” one woman stated.

Another said: “Guys never complimented my nails until I got red nails.”

“The number of times guys have told me they love my red nails is insane,” added another.”

“I can confirm, it is real, I swear.”

One stated: “Oh my god, a random guy at work said he liked my red nails and I thought it was so odd.”

While another wrote: “Red nails are a staple for me. I alternate but always go back to red nails – and every time without fail I get complimented on my red nails.”

Some are sceptical however, saying that the fact these women are getting more dates has ZERO to do with the colour of their nails.

“I’ve had red nails for the past few weeks and haven’t been asked out,” one wrote.

Another added: “I’ve had red nails for the past 10 years and I’m still single LOL.”

So why are guys more attracted to red nails you may ask? Well one TikToker had a theory that it has to do with the guys’ mothers. Yes, their mothers!

Robyn Delmonte, known as @girlbosstown, first spoke about the “phenomenon” of the “red nails theory” and gave her reasoning behind it.

“I know guys are attracted to red nails and I’ll tell you why… It’s called the ‘red nails theory’,” she said.

“Every time I have red nails, every single f****** time, a guy comments on it. It’ll be like, ‘Oh I like your nail colour’.

“And I always thought red nails were like a grandma’s nail colour, like why the f*** is he liking red nails?

“And then it hit me… In the ‘90s when we were growing up, women had red nails a lot, especially our mums.
