Woman Faces Backlash For Saying ‘Save Me, Not My Baby During Labour’
A mum says she never expected the hateful comments she received after saying she’d want to be the one saved during a medical emergency rather than her baby. Do you agree with her?
Shelbie Martin’s TikTok video may have been short, but it certainly stirred up a lot of commentary from the online community. The clip is captioned with:
“If during birth you have to choose to save me or the baby, save me. I have babies at home that need me. And my husband agrees.”

A bunch of people said there is no way you wouldn’t save your baby first.
“If you’re not willing to protect the baby inside of you, then the ones at home are better off without you,” one person said.
“Wow, you always save the baby. They have their dad,” another added.
While one added: “Before I had kids, I’d say save the baby. I have two kids now … they need me.”
“I don’t have kids, but if this happens, SAVE ME, I can make another baby but nobody can replace me,” wrote another.
Where do you stand on this debate?
