Make-Up Must Have’s: Top Beauty Products

As winter grabs hold of Melbourne this week, I find myself doing a lot of decluttering. First to go were my clothes and shoes, followed by the kid’s toys. And just yesterday I managed to remove over 50 shopping bags from the kitchen cupboard. I haven’t quite grasped the notion of TAKING your shopping bags with you to shop rather than BUYING new ones each time. Baby steps. I’ll get there.

Next on my list was the bathroom – or the Hondos Centre as I like to call it. (Greece’s version of Sephora but with cigarettes). I have a tendency to hoard cosmetics and buy anything with the words ILLUMINATING or RADIATING on the front. Oh, who am I kidding- I’ll buy anything as long as it comes in a pretty bottle!

While I was culling away I noticed that I had doubles and triples of a few items. These are products that I love so much I stocked up on them, or loved so much I ‘borrowed’ them from my sister’s bathroom cabinet. Any way you look at it, these are my favourite products that are on high rotation at Chrystal’s Casa de Beaute:

aesops cleanser skin care

Aesop Amazing Face Cleanser

This low foaming mandarin-infused gel cleanser is perfect for combination or oily skin. It smells amazing and leaves your skin hydrated all day. And the bottle is pretty. RRP $49 for 200ml.

Napoleon Skin Primer

Pretty gold tube and pretty amazing results. Containing chamomile, yarrow extract and Vitamin E it soothes and hydrates your complexion. Wear it alone or under make up for a flawless result. RRP $45.

benefit mascara make up top pick

They’re Real Mascara

The ONLY mascara you will ever need by BENEFIT cosmetics.

THEY’RE REAL lengthens, thickens, curls, lifts and separates all with one stroke. Not cluggy and no clumps. I used to be a Maybelline girl until I tried this, you’ll be a convert too. RRP $38.

natio brow brushes

The Natio Brow Kit

The NATIO brow kit is amazing value for only $20. You get 2 shades of brow powder plus brow wax. A double sided angle brush, mini brow brush and tweezers. The package also has a mirror on the lid. It really is all you need to keep your brows groomed. Perfect for travelling or just having in your handbag for touch ups.

benefit lemon aid eye primer concealer

Lemon Aid Eye Lid Primer and Concealer in One

Lemon Aid by BENEFIT is an eye lid primer and concealer all in one. It is a yellow correcting cream that helps hide redness and discolouration on the eye lids. Although it’s marketed as an eye lid primer it can also be used for under the eyes to hide bags and illuminate the area. It’s easy to use and spreads easily. It provides an amazing base for eye shadow or just wear it on it’s own for instant brightness. It’s great value at $37 a pot as it lasts for AGES!

natio lip butter

Natio Lip Butter

The Natio Lip Butter pots are the perfect mix of a lip balm and lipstick. They add a bit of colour without being too overpowering. Moisturising and nourishing, they won’t dry out your lips. Lots of shades to choose from- my favourite is THRILL – which a perfect lip toned hue.

Jolene enjoys writing, sharing and connecting with other like-minded women online – it also gives her the perfect excuse to ignore Mount-Washmore until it threatens to bury her family in an avalanche of Skylander T-shirts and Frozen Pyjama pants. (No one ever knows where the matching top is!) Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on. Dislikes: Writing pretentious crap about herself in online bio’s and refereeing arguments amongst her offspring.
