Gwyneth Paltrow has shared some pretty interesting things in the past but I’m pretty sure V-Steaming may be the weirdest one yet.
The lifestyle guru has given an insight into the benefits of Vagina Steaming or V-Steaming for short. While some of us may have never heard of this process- it’s actually old news to the actress.
Gwyneth attended a question time at clean-beauty store Credo (which is the opposite of a dirty-beauty store) where she was asked whether she finds v-steaming a funny thing to do.
“Oh, totally. The first time I tried v-steaming, I was like, This is insane. My friend Ben brought me and I was like, ‘You are out of your fucking mind. What is this?’ But then by the end of it I was like, ‘This is so great,’” Gwyneth told the audience.
Gwynnie then went on to explain the scientific reasons behind this rather unique health ritual.
“Then I start to do research, and it’s been in Korean medicine for thousands of years and there are real healing properties. If I find benefit to it and it’s getting a lot of page views, it’s a win-win.”
Health experts warn against steaming your vagina saying the procedure could be dangerous if the steam is too hot which may result in burns to your uterus.
Gwyneth’s lifestyle website Goop explains what V-Steaming is: “you sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al. It is an energetic release—not just a steam douche—that balances female hormone levels. If you’re in LA, you have to do it.”
Why do you have to do it specifically when you’re in LA though? Is V-Steaming the new Starbucks? I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have a Grande Latte over a vaginal cleanse any day! Cheers!
