This 7 Year Old’s ‘Tired Mum’ Costume Is Going Viral
This would have to be one of the most realistic costumes ever.
Seven year old Lainie Griffin from Indiana in the US has shot to internet fame as images of her Halloween costume have gone viral. Her “Tired Mom” costume has resonated with women the world over after family friend Rachael Beachy shared a photo of the second-grader dressed up as a frazzled mum for Halloween.
“Notice the spit up and dark circles under her eyes. I’m dead!” Beachy wrote on Saturday, October 29. “This is the best costume I’ve ever seen!” In three days, her post has received 180,000 likes and more than 22,000 comments.
In the hilarious picture, Lainie — clad in thongs and a vomit-stained pink jumper — is seen staring dully into the camera with her hair thrown back into a sloppy ponytail. The pièce de résistance: A baby doll on her hip and another clinging to her ankle.
“She’s only missing the bottle of wine to cope and it’d be like looking in the mirror,” wrote one woman. Raved another: “This is great! I can SO relate!”
Lainie’s mother, Jessica Griffin, tells Us Weekly the costume was 100 percent her daughter’s idea. “I just added the dark circles with a bit of dark brown eyeshadow and the baby spit-up, which was made up of water and baby powder mixed up and dribbled on her shoulder,” says Griffin, who is also mum of Mavrick, 10, Makenzie, 6, Jovie, 4, and Jonah, 4.
“Lainie came up with the baby around the leg because I always have one of her younger siblings sitting on my foot when I’m trying to do something!” Jessica tells Us.
