Sarah Harris Gets Fat Shamed Just For Being Pregnant
Studio 10 presenter Sarah Harris is currently pregnant and to the shock and horror of everyone,Β she actually looks like a pregnant woman!
The Daily Mail recently published some photos of Sarah ‘leaving the Channel 10 studios’ looking like any other heavily pregnant woman. She was shown without the heavy make up we’re used to seeing on her and was dressed in casual clothes.

The television host said her first reaction to the unflattering pictures was one of shame before quickly realising that there was nothing wrong with how she looked just two months away from giving birth.

In fact, Β Harris was fine with the photos until she made the mistake of reading the comments that the readers had left.
βSome of them were just revolting,β she said, βhaving a go of how huge I am, how fat I am, how ugly I am, and when youβre pregnant you do feel very vulnerable and selfconscious about your body and I did feel pretty awful about the comments and the pictures, but then I thought βyou know what? Bugger it, Iβm growing a baby. This is meβ.
βThis is how I get around once I leave work, I take off the pretty frocks, the heavy makeup, the hair, I take off my spanx which Iβm still wearing. Thatβs what I look like and thatβs OK.β
Harris said she hoped the photos made other pregnant women feel better about their bodies rather than feeling ashamed.
βIβm kind of fed up with the body shaming that happens when youβre pregnant and then the pressure that comes afterwards to lose the baby weight.
βOn behalf of all the pregnant women out there who might be feeling a little bit chubby and a little bit flabby, on behalf of all of them, I want to say to the haters βget stuffedβ.β
Harris amusingly clarified that she wasn’t in fact leaving the studio: βAnd by the way, I wasnβt leaving work, I was leaving a Mexican restaurant where I had an awesome, awesome chicken burrito at the time.
βDonβt try and come between me and a chicken burrito.β
How sad that women feel it’s okay to write in and fat shame another woman simply because she looks pregnant. Women have enough pressure to lose weight once they’ve had their baby let alone being made to feel ashamed and embarrassedΒ about their bodies while pregnant. What Sarah Harris said is spot on- she is growing a baby in there! How dare anyone think it’s acceptable to comment on how she looks! Do you agree?
