Spring’s Key Item: The Blazer

blazer

blazer

If, like me, you’re over winter and looking forward to some spring weather, get cracking on your wardrobe and start looking to the season ahead.

The one item that will transition you effortlessly into spring is the blazer. Many of you probably have more than one already so the key to extending the wearability of your current winter wardrobe is the blazer’s fabric.

Ditch anything made from wool and choose cotton, linen or a light poly-mix. Choose a style that is classic and look for playful details such as cut-outs, embellishment or interesting textures.

If you want something versatile you can’t do better than a denim blazer. This can be worn with jeans and looks smarter than a denim jacket as it is cut like a single breasted suit jacket but retains the casual vibe from the denim. It can be thrown over dresses, cropped or long pants, or even leggings provided it isn’t too short.

This hardworking item will never date and provided its in a neutral colour such as navy, natural or tan (try to avoid black for spring) it should go with almost everything you currently own – test the theory out by looking through your clothes and imagining how many outfits you can create!

Happy spring ladies!

Jolene

Jolene enjoys writing, sharing and connecting with other like-minded women online – it also gives her the perfect excuse to ignore Mount-Washmore until it threatens to bury her family in an avalanche of Skylander T-shirts and Frozen Pyjama pants. (No one ever knows where the matching top is!) Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on. Dislikes: Writing pretentious crap about herself in online bio’s and refereeing arguments amongst her offspring.
