How to Make Your Money Go Further with Cashrewards

Sponsored post

Anyone else feeling the pinch from the skyrocketing cost of living? It’s insane how much a week’s worth of groceries costs these days, especially when you have three growing teenagers to feed! Like many Aussie families, we’ve been especially keen lately to make extra savings wherever we can—so when a friend started raving about Cashrewards, I was curious to see if it was worth the hype. Low and behold, an opportunity to give the Cashrewards app a really good test soon presented itself—because not only do my kids never stop eating, evidently, they’ve also been busy over the warm months growing! So much so that when the cold-snap hit Queensland last week, and we all dug out our winter woollies, we discovered that my kids have pretty much outgrown everything warm that they owned from last year!

Unfortunately, gone are the days when I could pick out cheap and cheerful trackies to dress them in. These days they have their own ideas on what’s cool, and what’s not. So rather than waste my time looking online for clothes that I think they’d like, (because invariably I get it totally wrong), I told them to look for themselves and come back to me when they’d found a warm hoodie that they liked.

How the Cashrewards App Works

Before I get into how much cashback I managed to earn just by doing my online shopping via the Cashrewards app, let me first explain a little more about the app and how it works.

The Cashrewards app is free to download and totally free to use. So honestly, if you regularly shop online and you don’t already use it, you are missing out! Basically, the way that it works is this – when you shop with one of Cashrewards 2000+ retailers, Cashrewards gets paid commission. Stores pay Cashrewards for sending them customers, then they give most of that money back to you as cashback. It’s free to join and there are no fees! When the amount of cashback you’ve earned reaches over $10 you can withdraw it to your bank or Paypal account, or, as I’m planning to do, save it all up until the end of the year, and use it to take some of the strain out of the back-to-school costs!

Plus, if you download the free app, and create an account now, Cashrewards will give you a $20 welcome bonus after you’ve completed your first shop!

As I already mentioned, Cashrewards has partnered with over 2000 retailers so you’ll be able to find deals from most, if not all, of your favourite stores. Sitting down with my kids to find deals on the clothing they had chosen was really easy, and I was pleased to see that some of their chosen stores offered pretty generous cashback amounts too!

Here’s How Much Cashback I Was Able to Earn

My daughter chose a cute peach coloured Billabong Nelly hoodie. A quick search showed that several retailers sell it, including Billabong, Surf, Dive and Ski, City Beach and Surfstitch. So, my first step was to check on the Cashrewards app to see which retailer offered the highest cashback rate.

Since Surfstitch offered the highest amount (8% cashback)* I shopped through them and earned my first cashback reward of almost $8. With my first transaction complete my account was also credited the $20 welcome bonus. So we were off to a great start!

My 14-year-old son chose a black Rochester Base Champion hoodie – this proved to be my best buy of all because Cashrewards was offering 20% cashback for a limited time*! Using the Cashrewards app I navigated to the Champion website and found the hoodie. To my delight (because I love finding a bargain), it was on sale for 30% off – marked down from $99.99 to $69.99. So not only did I save $30, I also earned $14 cashback, taking my total up to almost $42 already! Seriously…why has it taken me so long to discover this ultimate shopping hack?

Lastly, my eldest son chose a Salty Life Black Beard 3.0 hoodie from City Beach – which was offering 4.2% cashback*. So, I earned another $2.90 to add to my cashback total. How good is that? It was so easy to navigate and really only added a few extra seconds to my shopping experience. By making my purchases via the app, I was able to score almost $42 cashback that I can either have transferred to my bank or Paypal account or save for a later date. I’m pretty excited to see how much I’ll have accumulated by the end of the year!
