Bob Hoskins Dies aged 71
British actor, best known for his portrayal of cockneys and gangsters, and movies such as ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit,’ ‘The Long Good Friday’ and more recently ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ has reportedly died at the age of 71 of pneumonia.
His wife Linda, and children Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack said in a statement “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob.”
“We ask that you respect our privacy during this time and thank you for your messages of love and support.”
According to the family’s statement Hoskins died peacefully in hospital on Tuesday (29th April) surrounded by his family following a bout of pneumonia, just 2 years after retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
As news of the actors passing rolls out around the world, social media users have paid homage to the actor, with some well known names from the entertainment industry amongst the Twitter users expressing their sadness and respect for an actor whose career spanned four decades.
An actor who had the ability to steal the show whether he was playing the lead actor, or a smaller part as in the movie “Hook’ where he played right-hand man Smee, Bob Hoskins is an actor that will be truly missed.
