This Is What Happens When You Joke About the Dress Code of Your Son’s Christening!
Dress codes are big deal when it comes to traditional events, and sometimes your guests can get easily confused when you request smart casual, business formal, cocktail or dressy casual on the invitation. You never really know what they will turn up wearing, but so long as it isn’t a stuffy event, everyone usually fits in style-wise and a good time will be had by all.
Unless, of course, you make a little joke about your event’s dress code!
Imgur user Surgas uploaded a series of hilarious photos to the image sharing site that has now gone viral. They explained that they “made my best friend believe my son’s christening party was a costume party”!
“How this evil plan was carried out..
Three weeks before the party we were hanging out at my place and at some point out of the blue I said: “by the way the christening party is gonna be different… It will be a costume party!”
It came quite suddenly and I did expect the usual -shut up you twat!- but he just looked at me, though a bit suspicious.
I had an iPad in my lap and I started to search for cool costumes. We had some great laughs and talked about going as Rocksteady and Bebob (from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). At this point I was actually sure he had figured out the scam but hey, we had fun. He went home and I did not think more of it.
Two weeks later he suddenly texted me that he had found the PERFECT outfit and asked if I had a plastic sword he could borrow. What the…?
I answered: “Sorry I do not have a plastic sword, looking forward to see your outfit.” Even at this point, two weeks later, I actually thought he was just playing along with the joke.
I guess I was wrong. I was literally rolling around the floor laughing when he entered the church!”
As you can see, his costume was pretty awesome…
It is certainly not the first time that someone has fallen for the old “it’s a costume party!” trick but surely it’s a first for a christening!
Fantastic costume though!
