Mum Blogger Defends Her Daily Marijuana Use, Says it Makes Her “a Better Mum”

Mum Blogger Defends Her Daily Marijuana Use, Says it Makes Her “a Better Mum”

A mother of two has defended her daily weed habit, claiming that it is no different to drinking wine every day and that she is a better mum for it.

Canadian mummy blogger Caitlin Fladager documents her life on Instagram as many other mums do. She shares many posts alongside her husband and two young children with her nearly-300,000 followers.

In her recent controversial post, she is shown sitting on a step smoking a joint while holding a sign that reads: “Mom Truth: Weed should be just as acceptable as a glass of wine”.

“Yes, I have two kids. Yes, I smoke weed daily,” Caitlin writes in her caption.

“It’s so funny to me how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys “mom juice” aka wine, after her kids are in bed. But when a mom says she smokes weed, it’s a huge shock.”

It is important to note that recreational use of cannabis was legalised in Canada last year. It is perfectly legal for this mum to smoke as much weed as she likes in her country of residence.

“Marijuana has helped me so much, especially when it comes to being a mom,” she continues.

“I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind. ⁣⁣

“It’s okay to smoke weed after your kids go to bed. It’s okay to smoke it to help with anxiety. Mine has been SO much better since I started smoking. ⁣⁣It’s okay to smoke instead of drink. I used to have a problem with drinking, and my behaviour that came along with that. Weed has helped me to stop drinking so much, and to be honest, I much prefer smoking over drinking.”

The post has racked up over 26,000 likes, with many adding supportive comments for the popular blogger.

“Just as acceptable if not more so. Alcohol has many more negative side affects than weed. Love this post,” wrote one follower.

“Even though I’m not a mom yet, I’m 100 percent behind this. I don’t drink anymore because it negatively affected my life and all I do is smoke now and my life has improved so much.”

“I’m so grateful for powerful women like you advocating for marijuana!” wrote another.

“Yes, finally someone said it!” commented another enthusiast.

However, not everyone supported the move.

“If you smoke weed every day or you drink every day this is a problem!”, commented one disapproving follower.

“Regardless of whether you have children, if you’re responsible for another person you should not drink or smoke. Especially when you’re home alone with children.”

It is an interesting viewpoint, that’s for sure. In Canada, smoking marijuana is just as legal as enjoying a glass of wine. But should it be consumed daily and around children? That’s the real question here.
