Woman Gets A Tattoo After Suffering A Miscarriage

When a woman suffers a miscarriage it can be a very lonely and isolating experience. She’s either not told anyone she was pregnant yet or the people around her that know stay silent out of fear of ‘saying the wrong thing.’
Regardless of how far along a woman is when she miscarries, she has already named that baby and imagined it as part of her life. So when it ends so tragically sometimes it can feel like it never happened.
An Igmur user, by the name of sweatmaster, recently experienced this tragedy first hand and wanted to do something to commemorate the memory of her baby.
She said in an interview with SELF magazine that βI wanted to get a tattoo to kind of remember and be able to heal and move on. It would be my tribute to this baby that we wanted but unfortunately didnβt last.β
She got the meaningful tattoo inked on her to help break down the shame associated with women who experience miscarriages.Β βItβs sort of a conversation piece, because I know people donβt want to talk about miscarriages, and itβs really taboo. But for me, Iβm not really ashamed that it happened. It was another life experience even though it was a bad life experience. I donβt want to forget and I donβt want to pretend it didnβt happen.β
It’s a beautiful design that’s very abstract when you first look at it but then becomes crystal clear as to what the image represents. Just beautiful.
