Mum Left Devo’d After Her Little Girl Comes Home From Nanna’s House with a Mullet
A mum in the Netherlands has been left feeling devastated after her four year old returned from a sleepover at her grandmother’s house sporting a mullet hairstyle.
I think we can all agree that this is every mother’s nightmare, and although it might not be as traumatic as many other heartbreaking scenarios, a sudden surprise mullet is definitely in the top ten. It’s right up there.
Serena Rose had sent her daughter Alexis to her nanna’s house for a fun sleepover and all seemed to be going well until she received a phone call the next morning.
“I’d just sent Alexis off to her grandparents’ house for the night for a sleepover”, the young mum said. “The next morning, I got a call from them telling me that she had managed to cut all of her hair off.”
“I thought they were joking. But then I realised they weren’t, and it was really happening.”
Serena continued to explain why she thought her daughter had taken to her head with a pair of scissors: “She had been sitting with me when I got my hair cut a few days beforehand, and I think she just wanted to play hairdresser too.”
“Apparently she had got a hold of a pair of scissors and just went crazy. It all happened in a matter of minutes. There was blonde hair all over the house. They [her grandparents] were shocked.”
After initially finding it hilarious that her daughter was now sporting the classic 80s do, Serena realised she would now have to shave her head.
Lots of children experiment with cutting their hair off at some point in their young lives but often never to the extent that little Alexis did. She really went all out, hey?
“At first, I thought it was funny,” Serena continued, “but then I was mad as she knows better than to do that. Then I felt heartbroken as we had been growing her hair for so long.”
“You can’t help but laugh though at the mullet. It’s quite a unique look.”
Despite giving herself her own awesome style, Alexis decided she didn’t like her new hair.
Serena said: “She was really upset when it happened and instantly regretted it. But we try and style her new short hair with hairbands and things like that.”
Alexis is now regrowing her blonde locks, and mum Serena said she hoped her daughter had learnt her lesson.
“I get quite sad when I see old pictures of her long hair, it was just so beautiful. It still stings. I hope she has learnt a lesson from what happened and will not be doing anything like that again,” Serena reflects.
“Of course, I still tell her she is beautiful no matter what she looks like. I just don’t think she suits a mullet.”
No one does, Serena. No one does.
