Neighbours Demand Couple Keep Their Children Indoors Before 9am So They Can Sleep!
Kids can be noisy, we get it! But is it fair to ask that they stay indoors before 9am so that they don’t wake the neighbours?
One Sydney resident wrote a letter to their neighbour requesting that they keep their little ones inside until at least 9am to stop them being disruptive.
The Mossman resident wanted the “noisy kids” kept indoors so that the neighbours around them could sleep without being woken by screaming children.
Taking to a Facebook Page titled Mossman Living, the disgruntled neighbour began by congratulating the couple on finishing their renovations.
However the writer then addressed the “screaming” kids waking them as early as 7.30am.
“Your neighbours have endured many months of construction noise and now we are being disturbed by your kids in the backyard early in the morning,” the note reads.
“We wish to request that you keep your young kids indoors until 9am. There have been many occasions in recent times when your kids are out in the backyard early in the morning and they have been very loud and noisy.”
The resident even singled out one “son”, claiming he is “very loud” before concluding “kids will be kids” but requesting that they wait until 9am before letting them outside so they are “not awaken too early in the morning”.
The letter created quite the stir online after it was shared on Facebook.
“Seriously! We are in lockdown. My neighbours have four boys and they are out very early and I feel nothing but compassion for them we all need to show a little patience,” one person wrote.
“What a joke, construction starts at 7am where I live,” another said.
With the majority of commenters calling the letter ‘disgusting’ and ‘entitled’ there were a few who agreed that parents do need to be mindful that their kids aren’t disturbing those around them.
“I think parents of young children forget what it’s like to have a healthy and sufficient sleep cycle so they decide that everyone else should suffer with them,” one person said.
What do you think? Is it unfair to ask that children are kept indoors before 9am in the morning? What would you do?
