This Beloved Teddy Bear Was Accidentally Left Behind but the Hotel Staff Made Sure He Was Well Taken Care Of!
It’s something all parents dread — that heartbreaking moment when you realise that your child’s most treasured possession has been lost and unlikely to return.
The frantic search that follows is distressing for everyone involved, especially when the reality sinks in and the tears really start to flow. You’re kicking yourself that you didn’t do a thorough check that nothing was left behind and begin thinking of ways to replace the beloved item while simultaneously telling your child it will be okay and that you’ll make sure their favourite item comes back. It’s a nightmare all round.
This is exactly what happened to Anna Pickard’s family after a recent Hawaiian holiday. Once the family returned to their San Francisco home, they realised that their son’s beloved teddy bear had been left behind, along with a new friend — a small grey plush seal they had bought during their holiday.
After contacting their hotel, hoping against hope that the bear might be recovered, the hotel staff responded with a series of photos, confirming that there are a whole bunch of good people still in this world, and that a lot of them work at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai.
Anna took to Twitter to share this delightful story:
Honestly, most parents would just be relieved to hear that the plushies would be returned at some point, but to be able to show your child that not only are they safe and sound, but are also enjoying a little extended vacay? No words could possibly describe how grateful I would be!
And there is a little update:
We hope Sutro and his new buddy (freshly named Kauai, we see!) make it through customs in one piece and are home with their human family very soon.
Having a crappy Monday? I was too.
Not only is it raining and I was back at work, but we realised last night that Doozer had left his beloved teddy bear at the hotel we stayed at, and that when we had to admit it, he was going to go from being worried (last night) to most upset.— Anna (@annapickard) January 7, 2019
