Beauty Tips for Time-Poor Mums (Plus Join Us in #Momentsforme to Win an Indulgent Spa Treatment for You and a Friend)

Beauty Tips for Time-Poor Mums

Time – there is never quite enough of it, is there?

Now that I am a mum of three I often try to think back to the years before my children were born, and I wonder, what did I do with all that lovely time I had to myself?

These days of course I can often be found multi-tasking: attempting to cram as much into a day as possible, whilst taking care of and nurturing the needs of both my children and my husband. Trips to the hairdressers are reserved for special occasions, manicures are often performed while reading out the words for someone’s spelling test and refereeing the 37th fight of the day, and by the end of the day I’m so exhausted I can barely remember my own name, let alone fathom the energy to apply a night cream before face-planting into my pillow.

Okay, so I’m being a little over-dramatic, but you get my gist right? How many of us actually take 20 minutes out of the day to do something to nurture ourselves?

Of course, there are an infinite number of cosmetics and beauty products out there to clean, clear, and conceal, (thank goodness!) but real beauty comes from taking care of yourself – your mind and your body – on a daily basis. Getting back to the basics of ensuring you get a good night’s sleep, managing stress, enjoying a nutritious diet and incorporating some form of physical exercise into your daily routine will have you glowing from the inside out.

With this in mind, DermaVeen are challenging women to make time for themselves for the chance to win the ultimate pamper pack: an indulgent spa treatment for you and a friend. Now that’s a challenge we can all get excited about, right ladies? All you have to do is upload a photo of your favourite indulgence on Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtag #Momentsforme and tag @Mumslounge for your chance to win. Alternatively, you can share it in the blog comments section below.

To help you on your way, we’ve put together these quick and easy beauty tips, that even the busiest of women can make time for.

Drink Plenty of Water

I can’t stress this one enough. Drinking 2 litres of water daily has so many benefits for your body including keeping your skin clear and more youthful looking (plump, hydrated skin equals less wrinkles!)

Dark Circles Under the Eyes

When eight hours sleep just isn’t possible, you can treat those dark circles under your eyes and wake up your eyes in just 10 minutes, and you probably have just the thing in your pantry or fridge believe it or not. Sliced cucumber or potato can work wonders, as can cooled green or black tea bags. Seriously, if you haven’t ever tried any of these tricks, you have to give them a whirl!

Make Friends with Mascara

If there is one cosmetic in my arsenal kit that I couldn’t do without, it would have to be mascara. Your eyes are the focal point of your face (when you talk to someone you look into their eyes right, not at their nose or into their ears!) Even if you don’t have time for anything else, a quick lick of mascara on your lashes can define your eyes and make you look fresh and awake (even if in reality you aren’t!)

Skincare: Choose Products That Can Multi-Task

You aren’t the only one that can do more than one thing at a time you know! Choosing products that perform more than one task not only streamlines your skincare routine, it can also save money.

I’m currently using DermaVeen’s Daily Nourish Lightly Tinted Facial Moisturising Cream SPF15 from the DermaVeen range that was gifted to me, and I love it. Just as the name suggests it moisturises and protects my skin from the suns harmful rays (yes, I insist on wearing skincare products that contain SPF even in the winter), and I can wear it on a daily basis without the need to apply a separate foundation.

It is free from lanolin, parabens, artificial dyes or colours, fragrances and alcohol, and is hypoallergenic, so its perfect for dry and sensitive skin (thanks to the goodness of the colloidal oatmeal!

Treat Cracked Lips

Cold wintery weather can be just as harsh on your lips as the sun is in the Summer. Rub Coconut oil on your lips for a natural moisturiser that smells and tastes great too.

Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on.
