It is perhaps no surprise, when you take into account the incredible changes our bodies go through during pregnancy, childbirth and even menopause, that women account for 70% of people with incontinence.

I know, I know. It’s embarrassing. Nobody wants to talk about it. But for many women stress incontinence is an everyday reality, and it is estimated that 1 in 3 women today suffer to some degree with personal wetness.

Stress incontinence can affect women of all ages, may occur at any time and is caused by a weakness in the pelvic floor muscles. This weakness results in the leakage of urine during everyday activities such as laughing, coughing, sneezing, lifting or exercising.

Earlier this year, 10 Mums Lounge members who suffer from stress incontinence were offered the opportunity to trial Contiform. Contiform is an intra-vaginal device shaped much like a hollow tampon, which can be easily inserted and removed like one also. The device is softly contoured to be worn discreetly and comfortable inside the vagina to support the urethra and restore your bodies natural anatomy.

Contiform

Our mums were thrilled with this product. All of them stated that they would recommend Contiform to friends and only 1 did not intend to continue using the product.

I was very glad to be part of the trial, having recently had a baby via c-section I thought I could comfortably try it but I think due to complications during my first birth experience it left me having difficulty with tampons which is why Contiform while being an excellent product is not for me.
(Krista, mum of 2, age 30)

It is important to note that Contiform may not be suitable in the case of a prolapse. Although it may help to relieve stress incontinence if the patient is able to retain a tampon.

Here’s what our mums had to say about Contiform:

Contiform has been a real lifesaver! I was a bit unsure when I first saw it, but it is very easy to use and once inserted you can’t feel it at all. I Can’t really think of any improvements – the information I reciebed with the kit answered all my questions and I’m really happy with the product.
(Mum of 1, WA, age 35)

A great product, can’t fault it.
(Mum of 1, Brisbane, age 19,)

I tried the medium first and found it difficult but then went to the smallest size and that was much easier and suited my body more. Removal with the cord was easy. I didn’t try it without as the cord was not noticeable during wear.
I would recommend it to a friend who is comfortable wearing tampons, or to others for special occasions or during sport. It is a great idea, and about time this was being addressed.
(Krista, mums of 2, aged 30)

Great product! I’ve had three kids and haven’t exercised without wetness in six years. It was great to do some skipping and not worry.
(Mum of 3, NWS, age 29)
