“When my youngest son Ethan was born, he was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder and epilepsy, which made our lives even more challenging. Balancing the needs of a disabled child and the needs of my then 2 and 3-year-old was incredibly difficult. 

Despite these challenges, I remained determined to find a way to enjoy our beloved beach outings to the fullest. That’s when I came up with the idea of creating the Rugii – an innovative hooded towel set designed to provide maximum comfort and warmth, whilst allowing room to play and explore. An all-in-one type of outfit for my boys that was not only practical but also stylish. 

After creating the Rugii, it transformed our family’s beach trips, and I knew I had to share it with other beach-loving families. That’s when I decided to launch Rugup Beach Co. to share my design with other families who love the beach as much as we do and to help them create hassle free memories with their little ones!”

Nat kindly sent one of the gorgeous Rugii sets to our youngest Mums lounge reviewer, 2-year-old ‘Fluff,’ so she and mum Char could share their thoughts about it with our online community.

“I was really excited to try the Rugii as it sounded like it might be great to use after swimming lessons. We’re also going to Thailand next year, so there will be lots of swimming and time at the beach.”

“When it arrived, I immediately knew she’d be getting a lot of wear out of it this summer, and throughout the year! The dusty pink colour is lovely, and the waffle material is such a high quality – it looks and feels very luxurious!”

Fluff loves to explore when we are outside and is always collecting little treasures that she puts into her pockets – so she loves the generously-sized kangaroo pouch on her Rugii! I must admit, I’m also quite taken with the Rugii pockets. Only a mum would think to design sand-free pockets, right? Fluff can collect her stones, or pebbles or things that take her fancy without bringing half the beach home with us. The sand just falls through the mesh pockets – how clever is that?”

“The oversized design means that we can perform quick, discreet changes out of wet swimwear, and Fluff feels cosy and dry leaving her free to continue playing for longer. The waffle fabric is highly absorbent and breathable and dries quickly so it eliminates the need to carry around an extra set of clothing. It’s really light-weight and compact too, so perfect for travel.”
