“Set All Your Colours Free” with this Limited Edition Customisable SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker
In celebration of LGBT History Month last month, SodaStream launched a new customisable Sparkling Water Maker, with a whopping 20% of the proceeds going to international charity ILGA. As parents of the next generation, the Mums Lounge team passionately believe in teaching our children not only to be exactly who they are, but also to support and accept others to do the same. Also…let’s be real. Everything is better with bubbles, so, what is there not to love about this partnership?
Another huge bonus of the SodaStream for me, is that it is an ‘active green’ product. It doesn’t require batteries or electricity to operate it and it allows me to use water from my own tap – rather than buying plastic bottles and creating more waste. One SodaStream gas cylinder makes 60 litres of carbonated drinks – which equates to 180 aluminium cans or 30 large bottles, and each carbonating bottle is reusable for three years. (It has been estimated that an average family will use 2000 plastic bottles and aluminium cans over the course of three years…which is horrifying!)
Featuring a special edition “Terra” Sparkling Water Maker in a sleek matte black, the limited-edition kit includes a 1 litre dishwasher safe reusable bottle with a unique “colour in design,“ and eight rainbow-coloured permanent markers. Not only did my pre-teen daughter spend a couple of hours engrossed in decorating the bottle and the unit, it also created a great opportunity to sit and discuss why it’s important to be accepting and respectful of everyone, no matter what their gender, origin, religion or sexual orientation and why this collaboration is needed.
As SodaStream Australia’s Marketing Manager, Holly Walker explains “This year we have taken our continuous support for the LGBTQIA+ community a step further, by including a wide range of colours within our special edition pride product. We are fighting to defeat inequalities withing the LGBTQIA+ community and are always keeping a loud voice to support it.”
“Far too many LGBTQIA+ people all around the world face exclusion , discrimination, and violence everyday,” explains ILGA’s Co-Secretaries General, Luz Elana Aranda and Tuisina Ymania Brown. “This is a reality we cannot accept, and our communities are fighting back everyday. This work will not be over until we are able to enjoy the same rights equally – nothing more, nothing less. We are proud to bring together LGBTQIA+ persons from all over the world, all committed to bring about change. Thanks to this partnership and SodaStream’s generous support, we will be able to redouble our efforts to help our communities worldwide with advocacy opportunities and training, as well as ground-breaking research and campaign to change hearts and minds.”
