When you’ve been actively trying to get pregnant, and you see those two lines on the pregnancy test letting you know that your efforts have not been in vain, it’s a super special moment. These days, with the prevalence of social media and the popularity of TikTok in particular, sharing pregnancy announcements with partners, friends and family has become increasingly elaborate and creative. Gone are the days of waving a freshly peed on stick under your partners nose whilst squealing “we did it!” Now all the cool kids are dreaming up unique ways to break the news, filming the reaction of those involved and then sharing it with strangers online. All perfectly normal behaviour by todays standards, and we won’t lie and pretend that some are pretty touching, and just a little tear-worthy. (Yes, I’m a sap!)

But every now and again you stumble across a pregnancy announcement that stops you in your tracks and has you mouthing the words “WTF was she thinking?” like the one recently uploaded by TikTok user @Jasminechiswell.

The video opens with an excited looking Jasmine holding a huge cup of ice-cream and announcing her intention to reveal her pregnancy to her husband. But things take a sharp turn into ick territory as we see her beautifully manicured hand push a pregnancy stick into the centre of the ice cream, between some strawberries and wafers, and then bury it with a spoon under some more ice cream.

For those at the back who may have just missed what I said —THE PREGNANCY TEST IS NOW BURIED IN THE CENTRE OF THE ICE CREAM.

Jasmine then presents the ice-cream to her husband Maverick who instinctively thinks there is something up with this ice cream that his wife has presented him with – because the fact that she is also filming it isn’t a total give away that something is afoot! But despite his misgivings poor Maverick gingerly begins to tuck into the suspicious frozen treat eventually pulling out what he assumes is a wafer.

And this friends…is where the whole thing becomes a gag fest for both Maverick and anyone watching along at home.

“Is this a wafer?” asks Maverick before licking the business end of the pregnancy stick – which has admittedly been recapped but…eeek, still gross!

“Oh Maverick,” squeals Jasmine in horror as if she hadn’t considered this could even be a possibility when she disguised it as just another ice-cream adornment just moments before.

On realising what he is holding, Maverick gags a few times before, very good naturally considering the circumstances, smiles and says “well at least you are pregnant.”

What a trooper!

Viewers were divided over whether the prank was hilarious or just downright disgusting.

Fortunately, Jasmine later commented confirming that (and if you look very carefully at the closing screen you may spot it) it was in fact a new test that she had drawn the line onto, and not, as many of us assumed, one that she had previously urinated on.

Phew!
