Woman Causes Stir Online After Listing Her Tiffany’s Engagement Ring On Facebook

Woman Causes Stir Online After Listing Her Tiffany’s Engagement Ring On Facebook

Who has the right to the engagement ring after a couple break up? One woman caused a stir online recently after listing her ‘used’ Tiffany ring on Facebook Marketplace for $18,500. Was this wrong?

The Australian woman selling the item said that her partner had given her a one-carat diamond ring from Tiffany, which she was now selling for “obvious reasons.”

Sharing the post on Facebook she wrote: “Selling this for obvious reasons. I do, now I don’t. Compare to current Tiffany pricing of a 1.0 Carat ring at $23,600, I am letting go of this beauty at $18,500. Condition is close to brand new – never worn much. Sorry no receipt as I didn’t buy it obviously. Bank transfers only.”

Commenters were quick to judge the woman saying she should’ve returned the ring instead of selling it. One user wrote: “If he paid for it, it’s his and he should get all the money.” Another said: “Legally you can’t sell this and have to give it back if you didn’t proceed with the marriage.”

Others however thought she had every right to sell the ring. One added: “Not true – it’s considered a gift and it’s hers.”

Another person wrote: “Good for you for keeping it. It’s absolutely beautiful.”

The fact that there was no receipt concerned some people and they warned buyers to ask for a certificate of authenticity with the ring.

What do you think should be done in this instance?
