Boambee Beach: Great for Kids

boambee

boambee

We went on holiday on Boxing Day to see the girls Grandad and Grandma. They are in Coffs Harbour, so beaches, salt air and lovely balmy weather. I grew up in North Queensland so going to the beach was a requirement for me as much as it was for the twins.

The family went to a picnic at Boambee Beach Reserve, Sawtell. Boambee Beach is a great place for kids and families; they have ample picnic tables with bbq’s, toliets, a kiosk, a great playground with heaps of things to climb on, the water is not open to large waves so very good for young kids or those who would rather just have a nice swim without the surf and of course surfboards.

It has a sand bar so kids can walk out further and swim safely. My girls did not have their floaties with them as we could only find one so not good when you have two kids. The twins managed to swim successfully and had a wonderful time. We did help them by holding hands to walk to the sand bar and they were able to walk so not bad for four year olds.

The girls dug sand, made sandcastles, created roads with dirt and had fun getting messy with sand all over them. It was interesting to see how they reacted when they accidently swallowed the salt water. I keep on forgeting that they have little to no experience with the sea, so it was a rude shock to them.

If you are in the area of Sawtell why not stop in and have a swim, a bbq, or just relax at the beach. It is a nice stop over if you are travelling or even stay a while if on holiday.

To access the reserve you need $5.00 in coins to enter, then you can stay all day if you want or just for a couple of hours, it is up to you!

She is a mother to four year old identical twin girls, who keep her very busy. On top of looking after the girls, she is studying for a master’s degree in project management, blogging on her blog “Mummy to Twins”, attempting to keep the house clean and tidy, and trying to fit in some me time as well.

Jolene enjoys writing, sharing and connecting with other like-minded women online – it also gives her the perfect excuse to ignore Mount-Washmore until it threatens to bury her family in an avalanche of Skylander T-shirts and Frozen Pyjama pants. (No one ever knows where the matching top is!) Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on. Dislikes: Writing pretentious crap about herself in online bio’s and refereeing arguments amongst her offspring.
