This Hilarious Twitter Thread Proves That All Families Are a Bit Weird In Some Way
Is there something that your family does that strikes you a little weird now that you think about it?
Something that you’ve since realised that only your family did, no one else, but at the time you thought it was commonplace?
Every family has habits that they didn’t realise were a bit strange. It’s only when the children become adults that they figure out that nobody else has a communal tomato sauce dish in the centre of the table to dip your chips into. That was just that odd thing their family did! (Also, gross!)
Podcast host Georgia Hardstark took to Twitter and put out a call-to-action, asking her followers what their family’s weird thing was, and the results are hilarious!
What’s a weird thing your family did that you thought was normal till you moved out? We kept birthday candles in the freezer.

The dishwasher was used strictly for storage. Not dishes either, just random shit

We stick our heads under the faucet when we want a quick drink of water. The HORROR on my new college friend’s face when she took me home and I did it in front of her parents.

Omg, my grandma used to keep potatoes in the clothes dryer. She would only hang dry clothes.

My family kept stuff in the oven – nearly every baking pan plus all the snacks like chips and crackers and the bread. We had to unload it all onto the clothes washer to use the oven. We accidentally melted stuff on occasion. Miraculously no fires.

Family Dinner “cuss out” we could say whatever horrible words we wanted for 3 minutes 1ce a month at dinner (simultaneously), then couldn’t curse the rest of the month

We don’t use the front door ever under any circumstance

We kept our phones (landline) in drawers. My mom didn’t like that they ruined her aesthetic. I didn’t realize it was weird until one of her friends asked me where the phone was & I pulled open a drawer and she looked at me like… like I had pulled out a drawer with a phone in it

Much like the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, on birthdays my brother and I were visited by the Birthday Hippopotamus.

We have a shower that we keep all of our blankets in.

Whenever my family would watch movies together, my mom would make a huge salad in a large mixing bowl, give everyone forks, and we’d pass it back and forth like it was a giant bowl of popcorn.

Once my brother and I figured out the Santa thing, all of our Christmas presents suddenly started to be from living AND deceased pets. It isn’t really Christmas until I’ve received a wrapped gift from, “Ghost of Eeyore the parakeet.”

My sister and I got gifts from the “New Years Baby” every Jan 1st. (we still do) Usually a calendar and another small item. It wasn’t until my now husband got a new years baby gift and was like “um what is this?” that I realized the New Years Baby doesn’t visit everyone.

We had a “Valentines Day Frog”. Like the Easter bunny or Santa. My mom just really liked giving us presents.
